Do you plant things in your gardens to try to attract butterflies? If you'd like to attract Swallowtail Butterflies, I would suggest planting parsley ... lots and lots of parsley.
Last year, my parsley was absolutely swimming in swallowtail caterpillars. And, you know what swallowtail caterpillars turn into, right?
Now, keep in mind that the caterpillars eat the parsley plants. So, you will want to make sure to plant enough parsley to share with them, otherwise you might not get any ... and that would be very sad.
I gladly welcome swallowtail caterpillars in my garden and always try to plant a ton of parsley. I think both the caterpillars and the butterflies are beautiful and I like having as many of them around as possible!
