Sticky Buns

For as long as I can remember, I've eaten homemade sticky buns for breakfast on Christmas morning. When I was growing up, a long time family friend would make them each year and lovingly give them to family and friends as gifts. Our family always looked forward to devouring eating those warm, gooey sticky buns on Christmas morning. In addition to making the house smell amazing, they gave us a much needed, and very yummy, break between opening the gifts under the tree and our stockings.

Even though I'm now far from "home", I've kept the Christmas morning sticky bun breakfast going ever since. I really like to bake, so I enjoy making them each year and they remind me of the Christmas mornings of long ago with my parents and brother and sister. (sniff sniff)

This year, I decided to make a batch of sticky buns as well as a batch of iced cinnamon buns. I know -- crazy, right? (haha) It's been that kind of year, I guess.

Anyway, I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about the cinnamon buns. I've always thought of myself as a sticky buns kind of person. My husband, on the other hand, is an equal opportunity eater and had no problem eating 2 of each. I started with a sticky bun and had a cinnamon bun a bit later (will power, where are you???).

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked the cinnamon bun. But let's face it, anything covered in a creamy fondant icing is going to be good, right?
