Spring has finally sprung here! Well, actually it kinda, sorta arrived awhile ago, and then we had some (REALLY!) cold weather and everything got set back a bit. But, I think we're on track again now and things are really starting to look greener everyday.
I've been busy with gardening both inside and out and thought I'd show a few photos of how things are looking in the garden today ....
Strawberries
More and more flowers appear everyday. Strawberries are one of my favorites to grow (and eat!),
Peas
I planted both English Garden Peas and Snap Peas in large pots on our deck as well as in (2) 50 foot rows in the garden.
Potatoes and Onions
Both the potatoes and onions were planted in March.
Seeds Planted
I have artichokes, eggplants, peppers, tomatoes, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, kohl rabi, celery, lettuce, watermelon, cucumbers, coleus, & lots and lots of gourds growing under T5 lights indoors. (T5 lights make ALL the difference when starting seeds indoors!) Outside, I've planted carrots, beets, radish, rutabaga, turnips, spinach, peas, swiss chard, and lettuce seeds.
Parsnips!
My parsnips re-seeded themselves like crazy in the garden .... I have hundreds coming up all over. I dug up and moved about 100 parsnips and still have probably another 200 to be moved. Looks like 2016 is going to be the year of the parsnip here!
Chickadee Eggs
A chickadee has taken over one of our bluebird boxes again. Last time this happened, the eggs mysteriously just disappeared (probably down the gullet of a snake), so we've put some bird netting at the bottom of the nest box pole and hopefully no snakes will get to these eggs. I'm hoping to be able to photograph the Chickadee babies as they grow!
