A few weeks ago, the baby bluebirds in one of our bluebird boxes were eaten by a black snake (full story here). It was horrible. We immediately pulled down the box and repositioned it in a better location and on a better, more snake proof pole.
We've been keeping any eye on the box ever since and have been hoping that the parents would try again. After about a week, we noticed that someone was tidying things up in the box. Then, a few days ago we spotted a single baby blue egg. Today, there are four beautiful eggs in the nest!
I am always amazed by nature. I don't know if these eggs are from the same set of parents as our first set, but I really hope so. :-)
