Starting Tomatoes from Seed

Have you started your tomatoes yet?  I started mine back in February and they are getting R-E-A-L-L-Y big now and growing little green gems already.

See the little baby 'Mr. Stripey' above? Isn't he cute?

Every year I try to start my garden from seed. Some years I have better luck than others, but, for the most part, I am usually able to plant my garden from  seedlings born and raised in my living room.

This year, I'm bound and determined to have a bumper crop of tomatoes. I am going to fight each crow, each mockingbird, each hornworm, and any other critter that sets it's sights on my plants.  I am going to carefully monitor the rain and water levels.  I am going to fertilize them regularly.  I'll probably even talk to them.  And, if none of that works, I'm hoping that the fact that I am growing 50 tomato plants this year will make up for everything that might happen.

Did you know that 50 tomato plants take up a lot of room in a house?  I'm just about out of space under my T5 grow lights and ready for these suckers to get out in the garden.   Is spring ever going to get here, or what??
